Break long text into parts that fit

Many tools and platforms cap how much text you can send at once. X limits posts to 280 characters, Threads to 500, SMS to 160, and AI chatbots and translation services have input limits or work better with smaller chunks. This text splitter divides any long text into numbered parts that each stay under the limit you choose, and shows every part in its own card with a character and word count and a copy button.

Four splitting modes are available. Characters is ideal for social posts and SMS, and by default it ends each part at a space so words are never cut in half. Words is useful for AI prompts, translation tools and word-limited forms. Sentences groups a fixed number of whole sentences into each part, which keeps ideas together for summarising or translating. Lines splits lists, CSV data and code into blocks of a set number of lines.

Thread numbering that respects the limit

Turn on numbering to add a counter such as "(1/6)" at the end or start of each part — the familiar format for threads. The counter's length is included in the character limit, and the tool adjusts automatically when the number of parts reaches double digits, so every part is guaranteed to fit. Emoji, accented letters and other multi-code-point characters are counted as single characters and never split.

For AI work, a useful rule of thumb is that one English word is about 1.3 tokens. A chunk of 1,500 words is therefore roughly 2,000 tokens, which leaves plenty of room for your instructions in most models. When you paste the chunks one by one, tell the model which part it is reading — the numbering option does that for you.

Private and instant

Splitting happens in your browser as you type. Drafts, transcripts and confidential documents are never uploaded, so you can safely prepare text for any destination.

Frequently asked questions

How do I split a long text into tweets?
Click the "X post 280" preset and choose numbering "text (1/5)". Every part, including its counter, stays within 280 characters and words are never cut in half.
How do I split text for ChatGPT or other AI models?
Use the "AI prompt" preset or split by words with your own limit. Roughly 1 word ≈ 1.3 tokens for English, so 1,500 words is about 2,000 tokens. Splitting by sentences keeps ideas intact.
Are emoji and accented letters counted correctly?
Yes. Character mode counts user-perceived characters, so an emoji with a skin tone counts as one character and is never split.
What does "Don't cut words in half" do?
In character mode, each part ends at the last space before the limit instead of in the middle of a word. A single word longer than the limit is still split.
