Zalgo Text Generator — Glitch Text
Create creepy zalgo glitch text with an intensity slider and marks above, through or below letters. Copy and paste anywhere, or remove zalgo from text.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploadedMake glitchy, cursed text
Zalgo text, also called glitch text or cursed text, looks as if the letters are melting or being pulled apart by static. It became popular through horror memes and is now used for spooky usernames, Halloween posts, game channels, album art captions and jokes about a computer "breaking". This generator creates it instantly: type a word and every letter is decorated with a random pile of Unicode combining marks.
The intensity slider controls how tall the stack of marks grows, from a subtle shimmer at level 1 to a dramatic cascade at level 10. You can choose where the marks go — above the letters, through the middle, below the baseline, or any combination. Each change produces a fresh random pattern, and the "Randomize again" button rolls new marks without changing the settings, so you can keep going until the shape looks right.
How it works
Unicode has a range of characters called combining diacritical marks, from U+0300 to U+036F. Normally they place a single accent on a letter, such as the acute accent in é. Nothing stops a text from attaching dozens of them to one letter, though, and text engines faithfully stack them on top of each other. Zalgo text is simply that stacking taken to the extreme. Because the result is still text, you can paste it into chats, social media and documents without images.
The result can grow large: each visible letter may carry twenty or more invisible code points, so a short phrase can exceed character limits quickly. The status line shows the total length including marks. Some sites restrict or clean combining marks, especially in usernames, so lower intensities travel better.
Clean up zalgo text
If you receive glitched text that is hard to read, paste it into the input and press "Remove zalgo from input". The tool strips the combining marks and leaves the plain letters. Precomposed accented letters such as é, ñ or ü are kept. Everything runs locally in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
